Can you tell us about TheSuperCool?
We’re a retailer operating with two permanent shops in Melbourne, an online store and a series of pop-up shops that sell homewares, gifts and everyday objects. We curate unique products that tell a story, based on trends we see as being relevant from both local and international designers. We try and hunt down ‘TheSuperCool’ things that make you happy!

The SuperCool on www.childmagsblog.comWhat inspired you to start your own company?
TheSuperCool launched in November 2012 with our very first pop-up shop in a greenhouse at Melbourne Central. Noonie and I both wanted to do a project together utilising our complimentary skill base and to curate a range of unusual products that had stories to tell. We also wanted to merchandise them in a series of pop-up shops in unexpected locations. After nearly four years we have expanded to include two permanent shops, and we’ve done in excess of 20 pop-up shops. We also have an online store. The SuperCool on www.childmagsblog.comWhat can we expect to find at TheSuperCool stall at One Fine Baby?
A great mix of newborn gifts, fun interior products for nurseries and kids rooms, as well as supercool storage ideas, baby blankets, cushions, toy bags, bibs, plates, wall décor, etc.

Are you launching a new product or collection at One Fine Baby?
Yes, we are showcasing some of our own wall décor we’ve developed.

Will you be featuring any exclusive product at the One Fine Baby Event? We’ll have some bargains (who doesn’t love a bargain at an event?), as well as offering a larger range of our existing mix of baby and kids’ products, but in a supercool and super-cute pop-up emporium.

Which One Fine Baby Event will you be attending?
We’re fortunate to be doing both Sydney and Melbourne. We featured in the Sydney event last year and loved it! The SuperCool on www.childmagsblog.comTop 5 SuperCool products

1. Super cosy baby blankets in a variety of prints: an excellent newborn gift, which is functional, versatile and washes and wears so well.

2. Dribble & Feeding bibs: a great little gift for a newborn or one year old. They come in supercool prints, organic cotton and are fair trade.

3. Stackable crayons: a fun box of crayons that are non toxic, look great, stack and colour really well. Our daughter Lola loves hers.

4. Balloons: coming in a variety of sizes, these gorgeous hot air balloons can suspend from the ceiling and are a great way of adding instant wonder and excitement to a room.

5. Toy bags: these canvas bags come in a heap of cute prints and are perfect for laundry or storing toys. They are lightweight, easy to clean and make storage look good.

What does it mean to you to be an Australian creative, who is also a mother?
We’re very fortunate to be able to have such a nurturing creative industry. We really are so much more edgy and interesting creatively than many other countries with our design aesthetic. We really care what our children wear, play with and how their rooms look. We support independent design well in Australia. Yay for us!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with other mums who may be trying to combine their lives as business owners, designers and caretakers?
BREATHE. Don’t beat yourself up. You can never balance it all perfectly. What does help are supportive husbands, exceptional grandparents and being organised. The SuperCool on www.childmagsblog.com
