Can you tell us about Sack Me!?
Sack Me!’s collections are gender-neutral pieces with a sense of fun and adventure. Our designs are created to empower children from an early age to make their own choices based on personal preference, and not create gender segregation. We encourage children to choose their own adventure by mixing and matching our products, and to tell a story – to imagine, to explore, to create! We understand that no two kids are the same and we facilitate this by selling our products individually instead of in sets. Sack Me! om www.childmagsblog.comOur philosophy is to create beautiful trans-seasonal pieces and not get caught up with fast fashion trends. Our designs are adaptable, with complementing prints on the reverse of the doona to encourage longer product life cycle. Ultimately, we want bedtime to be fun – a platform to inspire creative little minds to explore and escape when they tuck into bed. Our products have a place in children’s rooms, as well as those who still love life, imagination and exploration.

What inspired you to start your own brand?
Sack Me! was launched in August 2014. The idea came about in 2013 when I failed to find bedding for my two boys that was a mix of fun, classic and quirky. I also wanted something that wasn’t either gender specific (rockets, trains, cars) or just pretty patterns – I felt they lacked a sense of adventure for kids. I saw an opportunity to create a unisex range that was truly unique –  a twist on familiar objects that really got the kids excited.Sack Me! on www.childmagsblog.comWhat can we expect to find at the Sack Me! stall at One Fine Baby?
Our full Carnival range and lots of fun gifts and accessories, such as blankets, cushions and beanbags.

Are you launching a new collection at One Fine Baby?
Yes! We are showcasing our newly released Carnival Collection: Part 2. This new collection is the grand finale to our year of carnival fun. We have brought back our sold-out Sundae bedding (in new colours) and lots of beautiful classic accessories to match. Sack Me! on www.childmagsblog.com

What does it mean to you to be an Australian creative, who is also a mother?
There’s so much amazing talent Down Under. I’m so proud to be a part of a pool of creatives, who are helping put Australia on the map by showcasing their designs and products to the world. It’s great when a local brand can bridge a little bit of that gap internationally. In terms of also being a mother and parent, we always hope our endeavors will encourage our children to pursue their dreams, whatever they may be. Sack Me! on www.childmagsblog.comIs there anything else you’d like to share with other mums who may be trying to combine their lives as creatives, designers and caretakers?
It’s been demanding on all fronts, but I try to keep things simple by focusing on each task at hand, instead of being overwhelmed by everything that needs to be accomplished. I’ve come to realise that the concept of work-life balance is a bit of a myth. Instead of pursuing the fabled unicorn, I’ve learnt to adopt the pragmatic approach to things. I get much more accomplished when I have a lot going on. It keeps me motivated and keeps the momentum going.

Apart from the children’s weekly routine, I’ve learnt to be flexible with everything else (including what time I get dinner ready!). Some days are harder than others, especially when a deadline looms and I feel that I’ve compromised time spent with the kids. I just have to look at how flexible, independent and adaptable they have become and realise the kids are developing life skills that can’t be taught. Every cloud has a silver lining. This has relieved me of the pressure, and often guilt, associated with working mothers. It’s given me the freedom and strength to do the best I can and to enjoy the ups and downs of this chapter in my life.
