Jenna Templeton takes a look at the latest kids shoe collective that’s here to help put our children’s best foot forward.
When I was a kid, it was important to find the correct shoes to support my feet. Every few months, my mum would take me to my local shoe store to get my feet measured on that interesting metal measuring device (why was it always so cold!?). After a good measure, we’d look at all the practical shoe options. On most occasions, we’d leave the shop with a fresh box of sensible black Mary Jane style shoes. While I did appreciate my parents caring for and nurturing my growing tootsies, I really would have liked something a bit different. Something colourful with a little sparkle (hello glitter shoes!).
What would have been a win for my childhood self would’ve been practical footwear that was also beautifully designed with loads of personality and style. The online boutique Romper Stomper, who make both children and their parents happy by offering comfortable, non-toxic, breathable shoes, would have been ideal.
Romper Stomper’s international collective of gender-neutral footwear includes lots of exciting brands such as Ralph Lauren, Vans (I adored my pair that saw me through many years of skateboarding), MAÁ Shoes from Spain and Donsje from Amsterdam.
Being a lover of all things crafty and handmade, my personal fave is the baby shoe making kit, which includes everything you need to make your own little leather soles.
Here are some more lovely shoes available in the Romper Stomper online boutique:
